Tim Nicklin

5th Dan Mumei Juku.

Tim Nicklin Sensei's lineage is from Mike Lambert Sensei, although he has been influenced by many other sources including the Shodokan. Tim Sensei has travelled to Japan, Okinawa, Taiwan and Malaysia to further his studies. Aswell as Goju he also holds grades in various other arts.

His approach to karate is toward cultural practice rather than point fighting. Tim Sensei concentrates his teachings on principals rather than particular techniques, placing an emphasis on the student to be reponsible for their own development. He believes karate is a personal endeavor, each student needs to follow their own path.

Lessons at the Mumei Juku dojo concentrate on kata, two person sets and pushing hand type exercises utilising which ever principle is being worked on. Swapping drills like Tegumi are used as an alternative to Kumite.
