Gavin Mulholland

Sensei Mulholland began his training at an early age alongside his three brothers under the tutelage of their father who was teaching judo in the British Forces throughout the 1960's.

After witnessing the ferocity and power of a Goju demonstration in the late 1970's, Gavin switched to Goju-ryu Karate under the guidance of Kyoshi Kim Roberts, who remains his teacher to this day. In nearly thirty years of training Gavin has traveled extensively throughout Asia, training in Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and China in a variety of martial arts as diverse as Aikido, Judo, Ju-Jitsu and Kyokushinkai.

However, as an holistic fighting art, Goju already incorporates elements from virtually every other system and Gavin has remained within the Goju framework.

Gavin has made several TV and film appearances, published numerous articles on the Martial Arts, and is a regular instructor for Meido Ltd, a company specialising in Bodyguard, Close Protection and Door Supervisor courses throughout the UK.

Sensei Mulholland currently holds Black Belts in four different combat systems and is Principle Instructor for Daigaku Karate Kai alongside Sensei Dan Lewis of the Bristol University Combat Goju-ryu Karate Club.
